Nsoronma Sweater

The Nsoronma Sweater was inspired by the Nsoronma Kente motif which is directly translated as Star.

The Nsoronma Sweater is a top down drop shoulder sweater, designed with 17-19cm of positive ease. The Pattern begins by working the yoke flat, starting with the back panel and then picking up stitches for the right and left front. Once the left and right front are long enough, they are joined in the round. You will then work the main body of the sweater with the Nsoronma colourwork pattern, finishing with 6cm of 2x2 rib. Stitches for the sleeves are then picked up, followed by a series of short rows to shape the cap of the sleeve. You will then work the sleeve decreases - whilst working the Nsoronma colourwork pattern, or in plain stockinette stitch, depending on the colourwork motifi chosen. Finally you will work a 2x2 folded collar.

Ease: This pattern has been graded with  17-19 cm/6.75-7.5 inches positive ease. I would recommend picking the finished size which is as close to 17cm larger than your bust measurement. If you would like a more ease, I would recommend sizing up once more. 

Gauge:  20 stitches and 28 rows per 10 cm/4 inches in stockinette stitch  (after being blocked)

All quantities below are approximate and based on: meeting gauge, doing a swatch and a small margin for different knitting styles. Therefore if your size just tips over to requiring another skein of yarn you might want to consider if you can reuse your swatch yarn.

3.5mm (US 4) circular Needles for ribbing and cuffs

4.5mm (US 7) circular Needles for the main body and  sleeves

Length of circular needles, 24cm, 40cm, 60cm, 80cm ( 9”, 16”, 24”, 32”).
