The Asere Sweater was created after months of our Dad asking for a sweater. He picked the colours, approved the swatch and named the sweater after the historical Ga area of Asere! Dad wanted something with multiple colours, that he could wear over t-shirts, and thus the Asere sweater was created.
The Asere Sweater is a top-down, contiguous sweater designed to be worn with 10–14 cm (4–5.5 inches) of positive ease.
The pattern begins with the yoke worked flat, starting with the back panel. Stitches are then picked up along the back panel to shape the right and left fronts and create the neckline. Next, stitches are picked up along the shoulder seams to create the set-in sleeves. You will continue working back and forth while shaping the front neckline. Once the neckline is complete, additional stitches are cast on and the work is joined in the round. The remainder of the yoke is then worked in the round, with increases made as instructed, before separating the sleeves from the body. The main body is worked in the slip-stitch pattern and finished with 6 cm of 1x1 ribbing. The sleeve stitches are then picked up and the sleeves are worked in the slip-stitch pattern, with decreases made as instructed. Finally, stitches are picked up around the neckline and worked in 1x1 ribbing to create the collar.
Ease: This pattern has been graded with 10-16cm positive ease. I would recommend picking the finished size which is a minimum of 16cm larger than your bust measurement. If you would like a more ease, I would recommend sizing up once more.
Gauge: 20 stitches and 26 rows per 10 cm/4 inches in the slip stitch pattern (after being blocked)
